Water Filtration Systems

Hard water is the standing complaint in Collin County

Spots on the glasses out of the dishwasher. Scale on the faucets. Skin and hair that feel dry after a shower. Soap that will not lather. Water heaters that fail early. All of it comes back to the same thing: North Texas water carries a lot of dissolved mineral.

Genzel installs whole home water filtration and treatment across McKinney and Collin County. Licensed and insured, Texas license RMP-23766.

Filtration and softening are not the same thing

• Softening deals with the hardness minerals, calcium and magnesium, that cause scale and dry skin.
• Filtration deals with what you can taste and smell, chlorine most obviously, along with sediment and other contaminants.

Plenty of homes want both, and some only need one. Which is why we test rather than guess.

What treated water actually changes

Less scale in the water heater and the tankless unit, so both last longer. Fixtures and glassware stay clear. Soap and detergent go further. And the shower stops leaving your skin tight.

What filtration customers say

Quoted as written from Genzel Plumbing’s Google reviews.

We test your water first

Before recommending anything we check what is actually in your supply: hardness, pH, chlorine and contaminants. The right system depends on the result, and a system sized for someone else's water is money wasted.

Guardian Plan includes an annual water quality test

Members get a full water analysis once a year at no charge, along with 15 percent off every service and no dispatch fee, for $27 a month or $282 a year. If you already have treatment installed, the annual water quality test is how you know it is still doing its job.

Pricing and financing

You get the options and prices before any work starts, and financing is available. Whole home treatment is a planned purchase for most households and we would rather you took the time to choose properly.

Water quality questions we get asked

Is Collin County tap water safe to drink?

It is treated to meet state and federal standards. Safe and pleasant are different things though, which is why so many households here filter for taste and odor and treat for scale.

What is the difference between a softener and a filter?

A softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale and dry skin. A filter deals with chlorine, sediment and taste. They solve different complaints. The HALO Water Filtration System we install combines filtration with salt-free conditioning, which is how most of our customers cover both.

Will treating the water stop my water heater failing early?

It helps considerably. Scale is the main reason water heaters and tankless units fail before their time here, so treating the water protects equipment you have already paid for.

Does a fridge or pitcher filter do the same job?

No. Those treat drinking water at one point. They do nothing for the water going to your shower, your washing machine or your water heater, which is where hardness does its damage.
