Faucet & Fixture Repair and Installation

Image
Faucets and fixtures, repaired or replaced

A faucet that drips, a shower that will not hold temperature, a new sink that needs installing, a kitchen mixer you already bought and would rather not install yourself. This is ordinary work and most of it takes one visit.

Genzel installs and repairs fixtures across McKinney and Collin County under Texas license RMP-23766.

What we work on
  • Kitchen and bathroom faucets, repair and replacement
  • Shower and tub valves, including cartridges and thermostatic mixers
  • Sinks, including undermount and vanity swaps
  • Outdoor hose bibs and frost proof replacements
  • Pot fillers, bar sinks and second sinks in a remodel
  • Fixtures you supplied yourself
We will fix it if fixing it is the right call

A dripping faucet is often a worn cartridge or a seat and spring, and that is a cheap repair on a good faucet. We are not going to tell you a fifteen year old brass mixer is finished when it needs a small part. Where the fixture genuinely is done, usually because parts are no longer made for it or the body has corroded, we will say that instead and show you why.

Hard water shortens the life of fixtures here

Scale sits in cartridges and aerators and works on the seals. If you are replacing the same faucet for the second time in a few years, the water is the reason rather than the brand.

Fixtures you bought yourself

We are happy to install a fixture you sourced. One caution worth hearing before you buy: cheap faucets fail at the cartridge and are often the ones nobody stocks parts for, which means the next failure is a replacement rather than a repair. Mid range is usually the better long term buy. That is our honest opinion, not a condition of the work. One thing to be clear about: we stand behind our workmanship, and a fixture you supplied carries its manufacturer's warranty rather than ours.

Pricing up front

You get the price before we start. Fixture work is usually straightforward enough that there is one number rather than three, and we will tell you if we find something behind the wall that changes it before we carry on.

Fixture questions we get asked

My shower will not stay at one temperature. What is that?
Most often a worn or scaled pressure balancing cartridge in the valve. It is a repair rather than a rebuild in most cases, and it does not need the wall opening on the majority of valves.

Can you install a faucet I bought online?
Yes. Take it out of the box before we arrive and check the parts are all there, because that is the one thing that turns a short visit into a second one.

Is it worth repairing an old faucet?
Often yes, if it is a decent one. Solid brass bodies outlast the plastic internals by decades and the internals are replaceable. Where parts have been discontinued, replacement is the only real option.

Do you replace outdoor hose bibs?
Yes, and it is worth doing before winter rather than after. A hose bib that split in a freeze usually took a short section of pipe with it.
